TV issues No Picture on TV

We have elaborated on the main issues below to provide you with a basic idea of what issue may occur in your TV and also how that might happen.

1) The TV screen is black, and the device shows no signs of life at all when turned on.

The television screen is dark, and the device shows no response when turned on. When you turn on your TV at times it shows no picture, and the audio also does not work.

The first thing that should strike your mind is to check whether the cause is due to the device malfunctioning or a power issue.

To determine if power is being supplied to the TV, unplug the power cord present at the back of the TV or the wall outlet. Next, disconnect all the external devices from your television.

Press the power button and hold for a few seconds. Then connect back the power cord and power up the TV. Notice the LED power indicator light. In case it doesn’t light up, unplug it back tightly and safely plug it back in.

Confirm if the surge protector or an extension is left on in situations where a power cord is connected to these devices.

If the TV screen is not presenting anything on its screen and is just plain and black, in that case, unplug the TV from that socket and instead plug in another device and check if it’s receiving power and functioning properly.

This will verify if it’s a power issue or if some malfunction is taking place in your TV. After checking for the problem for repairs, immediately call TUSA services.

2) The TV is powered, but the TV screen goes black, and no sound.

If you notice that even after you power on your TV, the screen is black and the audio isn’t working, there may be many causes of this issue.

The best you could do is reset your TV to factory defaults. For your ease, a step-by-step procedure is given in the User Manual of your TV.

Now let us have a look at some potential causes for the malfunction:

  • There may be some issues with the internal power supply unit.
  • A problem with the diving board.
  • A fault in the motherboard.
  • A case in the firmware.

The faults in the various components of the device can only be possible in the TUSA service center, with the help of the best-trained technicians who are equipped with high-quality devices which they handle in a sophisticated manner to diagnose the issue in your TV or repair it.

4) The TV screen fades off to black.

This happens rarely, but sometimes when you’re watching TV, your TV screen fades to black in color quite randomly. It is visibly turned off, but the audio is working just fine, and the power light is still on.

The process to fix this varies for all the TV brands, but if followed will mostly end up improving the issue. The general procedure is given below.

  1. Ensure that POWER SAVER/ENERGY SAVE MODE is kept OFF. Some TVs will end up turning the screen off but still plays the audio.
  2. Make sure that the SLEEP TIMER is turned off, in case it was mistakenly kept on. This problem might occur. There is a possibility of the Sleep timer being pressed accidentally on the remote, and that, in turn, will turn OFF the TV.
  3. Check if the STORE MODE / DEMO MODE is turned OFF. Store mode or demo mode is a factory setting that is used for a display or demo.
  4. Try using a different HDMI port for the appliance you are using. Unplug the HDMI from one input and plug it into another input to check for a faulty port. Reconnecting the HDMI cable on the back of your TV plus switching the inputs to BLU-RAY and CABLE may yield a desired positive outcome.
  5. Connect a new device to the TV or the same device to another TV. The device being used (Ex. Blu-Ray/CABLE BOX) may have led to the black screen issue.
  6. Please turn OFF the device (Ex. Blu-Ray/CABLE BOX) you are using, then turn it back ON. The device you are using may have developed a temporary fault and requires a reset to be done.
  7. An issue may have occurred with the HDMI cable – Try replacing it with a new High-Speed HDMI 2.0 cable. Replacing the HDMI cable may help as an issue may have occurred, which caused the black screen problem.
  8. Unplug the TV for 5 minutes and try to reset it. Unplugging the TV will reset the television and clear any temporary issues.
  9. Factory reset the TV to solve the issue. Open the MENU and locate FACTORY RESET. A drawback includes losing all your saved pictures.
  10. Download new software/firmware updates. The current firmware may be faulty and might need to be updated. MENU – FIRMWARE.
